We were delighted to welcome the head of the Edinburgh Genome Foundry, Dr. Rennos Fragkoudis to NIBRT and CONCEPT this week. Dr. Fragkoudis leads a multidisciplinary team focused on advancing high-throughput Engineering Biology through the innovative application of laboratory automation and robotics. Under his leadership, the Edinburgh Genome Foundry has become a hub for automated Engineering Biology, fostering collaboration across academia and industry and working on a large variety of projects addressing grand challenges.
Dr. Fragkoudis gave a seminar for NIBRT’s Visiting Minds seminar series, entitled ‘Engineering the future: DNA & Robotics at the Edinburgh Genome Foundry’. During his visit he also toured our facility and met with CONCEPT director, Jonathan Bones, Infrastructure Manager, Clair Gallagher, Business Manager for Research, Julia Rakovets and the newest member of the CONCEPT team, Suhani Almal.
