Dr. Julia Serna

Cell and Gene Therapy Scientist


Dr. Julia Serna joined NIBRT in 2023 as CONCEPT Cell and Gene Therapy Scientist. Julia graduated with a PhD in Biomedicine from University of Valladolid, Spain, and specialises in the use of gene editing tools to generate cellular models.

During her doctoral training she physiology of T lymphocytes, developing experience in vector design, plasmid generation, AAV6 production in HEK, CRISPR, T cells isolation and CAR-T generation using both lentiviral and AAV-based methods. She has actively contributed her expertise to industrial projects for allogeneic CAR T cell engineering, collaborating with Citospin, a GMP-compliant company that manufactures human cell therapies. Julia brings her exceptional skill set to CONCEPT, accelerating advanced therapy research within our core facility.
